The Leonard J. Gordon Park's namesake fought for the creation of Jersey City's free public library system, and as Mayor Mark Fagan said shortly after Gordon's death in 1905, "No better man or more useful citizen ever lived in this city." A moment of silence along the bustle of Kennedy Boulevard (formerly Hudson Boulevard), the park is also known for its Grizzly Bear and Buffalo statues.

Sports Facilites

Former Site of a World War I military training ground, the Height's Pershing Field is now a park. The PERSHING FIELD MEMORIAL statue ("America Triumphant") is dedicated to Hudson City soldiers and sailors. General Pershing himself didn't attend the July 4, 1922 unveiling (he sent an apologetic letter), but residents today can make the trip for a run around the track in imitation of the long ago recruits.

ALL of Jersey City's Pools are being renovated!
