"Mayor Cunningham to be Sworn in as State Senator for 31st District"
Cunningham to be First Jersey City Mayor to Hold a State Senate Seat

TRENTON - Jersey City Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham will be sworn in as state Senator for the 31st Legislative District during a 12 noon ceremony, Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004 in the Assembly Chambers of the State Legislature.

Cunningham, who was elected on Nov. 4, 2003, will be the first Mayor of Jersey City to serve in the state Senate.

"I am looking forward to beginning my tenure as state Senator," Cunningham said. "I will continue to serve the people of Jersey City as Mayor, but now will be able to make sure Jersey City and Bayonne have a strong voice in Trenton."
