JERSEY CITY- Acting Mayor L. Harvey Smith and city officials presented representatives of Goldman, Sachs & Co. with citations of distinction for their full sponsorship of the city's annual lunchtime Jazz for Lunch concert series during ceremonies today at Goldman Sachs' office complex on the Waterfront.
Smith and other city officials convened before an audience of spectators who have become accustomed to the jazz series, which for the last 12 years has run every Thursday afternoon during July and August on the pier. This year, due to construction on the Grundy Pier, Goldman Sachs offered its grounds as a locale for the jazz concerts. The firm sponsored $6,500, covering all expenses for the talented acts that performed at this year's events. "Goldman Sachs has shown a commitment to our city, not just in the business community but also to our neighborhoods and our cultural endeavors as well," Smith said. "Goldman Sachs' participation to the summer Jazz for Lunch series reinforces the fact that they are truly good neighbors to the residents of Jersey City." The Jazz for Lunch series is coordinated annually by the city's department of Health and Human Services, which endeavors to partner with business entities on various venues to foster binding business-community development ventures./// |
