"Mayor Cunningham Welcomes Eden Baskets to Jersey City"
Gift Basket Company Moves Opens Shop Downtown

JERSEY CITY - Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham will attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome the arrival of Eden Baskets, a local gift basket company to its new shop at 380- 382 Marin Boulevard at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004.

"We are excited to have such a family-oriented and unique business as Eden Baskets," Cunningham said of the operation, which has been run by a husband and wife team for 18 years. "And by locating in Jersey City, they have made a commitment to their own community and are investing in the city."

Business owners Teresa and Jeffrey Gerlinger, who live in the Paulus Hook section of Jersey City, as well as executives from The Provident Bank and the Jersey City Economic Development Corporation, will join the mayor in this welcoming event.

The Provident Bank, as well as the Jersey City Economic Development Corporation - through the Community Lending & Investment Corporation - helped the Gerlingers secure loans to purchase their new building, which is the site of a former tire store.

Cunningham said Provident's commitment to small business in Jersey City is one of the reasons operations like Eden Basket have the opportunity to grow and flourish.

"We have to be thankful for banks like The Provident Bank for their continued support of the Jersey City entrepreneur," Cunningham said. "Their commitment to small business makes Jersey City a great place to live and work."
