"Mayor Cunningham to Break Ground on Multi-Million Dollar Housing Development"
"Grandview" Will Feature 40 New Units on Former Colgate-Palmolive Site

JERSEY CITY - Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham will break ground on a multi-million dollar housing development being built in the city's downtown neighborhood at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2004.

The development, called "Grandview," will be located at the corner of Green and Grand streets and will feature an L-shaped four-story building with three floors consisting of 40 residential units and a ground-level parking garage. The building will be the last to go up on the former Colgate-Palmolive site.

The Grandview, which is being developed by Metro Homes, is conveniently located within walking distance of the Exchange Place PATH station and the ferry terminal. The homes, designed by Dean Marchetto Architects of Hoboken, are studios and one- and two-bedrooms. Some of the units feature terraces or balconies offering views of Manhattan.

"This project is a great addition to Downtown Jersey City," Mayor Cunningham said. "It will be an elegant building that will blend in with the architecture here quite well and which will provide additional housing for people working in our financial sector." In addition to the Grandview, Metro Homes is also currently developing Liberty Point, a building with 32 condos and a ground-floor restaurant on Warren Street.
