JERSEY CITY - Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham will host the annual Women's History
Month program at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 22, 2004 in City Council Chambers, 280
Grove Street.
The program, which will feature Jersey City women and young ladies, is in tribute to the
contributions of women to the city. The keynote speaker is state Superior Court Judge
Shirley Tolentino.
The Color Guard will be the Girl Scouts of Hudson County, who will also lead the pledge
of allegiance.
The ceremony will also feature an awards presentation by the Mayor to the following
women: Ines Fajardo, proprietor of Ines Bridal Shop; Phyllis Gordon, teacher at PS #22;
Jessie Murphy, the first New Jersey Assemblywoman; and Cynthia Reyes, a Jersey City
dentist.
In addition to the event, there is a Women's History Month art exhibit in the City Hall
rotunda, featuring the work of nearly two dozen Jersey City women.///
