JERSEY CITY-Mayor L. Harvey Smith and city officials wil gather 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at City Hall Council Chambers for the swearing in of the city's new deputy tax assessor, an African Amercan woman who will become the first African American to hold that distinction in the county's history.
Roxanne Addie Haynes, 35, a former supervisor and analyst with the city for nine years, will accept the title as Deputy Tax assessor before friends, family and colleagues. She holds a Masters Degree in Administrative science and is a Graduate of Seton Hall University. Ms. Haynes will be available for questions and photo opportunities.
"This is a great distinction for minorities and for women particularly, who for so many decades were not given the opportunity to excel on the management level," Smith said.
