Jersey City - Mayor L. Harvey Smith is urging residents and city employees to donate blood to the American Red Cross during its scheduled drive Friday, October 22, 2004 from 8 am to 1 p.m. at City Hall Council Chambers.
Every year the American Red Cross and other blood banks across the state suffer from severe shortages because there are not enough donors to keep the supply of blood sufficient. Becoming a donor can save a life.
"This type of donation is one of the greatest gifts one can give," Smith said.
