TRENTON-Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham will accept high praise for the city from Governor James McGreevey during ceremonies organized by Mission: Kindness International Inc. Friday, 11:30a.m. May 2, 2003 at the Statehouse.
Jersey City hit the trifecta of kindness, whereas the city was selected as the Kindest Place in New Jersey 2003, Cunningham selected as the Kindness Awareness Mayor in New Jersey and J.W. Wakeman Public School 6 selected as the Kindest School in New Jersey.
The Kindness Awareness Campaign began in 1999 following a joint resolution by the state legislature. It established May as Kindness Awareness Month and launched the campaign that invited citizens, businesses, schools and organizations throughout the state to participate in anti-violence, character building and kindness awareness programs and activities.
“It’s particularly pleasing when people outside of Jersey City acknowledge the fine students here and all the positives occurring within our city,” Cunningham said.
