JERSEY CITY Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham will celebrate Kwanzaa
during a public harvest ceremony at 6 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2003
at City Hall, 280 Grove Street.
The ceremony, which will feature live performances and a dinner, is part of
the traditional African holiday, which is a form of cultural expression.
This year's ceremony will also be an opportunity for participants to team
about Kwanzaa, a tradition that recognizes heritage and ancestry.
"It is very important for the young people of our society to learn about their
heritage," Cunningham said. "By learning about their past, they can pass on
their culture to future generations."
Cunningham encouraged all residents to attend the ceremony and learn
about Kwanzaa.
