And like our seniors, our veterans deserve to be recognized and honored.
Our veterans remind us what it means to be American, and that liberty does not come without a price. Just this year, several of our own men and women took part in Operation Iraqi Freedom, to help bring liberty to the Iraqi people and to prevent the spread of terrorism.
As a former U. S. Marine, I appreciate the courage and sacrifices of these young men and women. I have established the office of Veterans Affairs to better serve our veterans.
We have renamed a portion of Jersey Avenue after Douglas and Arthur Skinner, two brothers killed on the same day in. World War II. And last Memorial Day, the City Hall Rotunda was named in honor of John "Chuck" Meagher, a Medal of Honor recipient from WWII.
